33rd Annual Masonic Junior regional wheelchair meet

US athletes came to South Brunswick New Jersey to compete in the 33rd annual Masonic Junior regional wheelchair meet this summer in track and field, swimming, table tennis and weightlifting. Top performances by Xavier Perez, Alexander Xue and Miguel Jimenez-Vergara led the men's field. Top female competitors were Caitlin Chaser and Jennifer Fae in weightliftin and Alexandra Kay and Lynne Ganley in track and field.

East Coast Cripplers: On Their Way to USQRA National Championships

Hampton Roads' wheelchair rugby team, the East Coast Cripplers, is on their way to the USQRA National Championship Tournament next week. Featured in the movie Murderball, quad rugby "bears little resemblance to rugby and instead has elements of wheelchair basketball, football, soccer and ice hockey."

This video shows interviews with some of the players, who talk about why they play.

Grand Canyon State Fencing Foundation Seated Fencing Promotion - The Grand Canyon State Fencing Foundation (GCSFF) is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization. The mission of the Foundation is to increase awareness of fencing and to promote and develop the amateur sport in Arizona. National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Denver this July

Hosting 17 medal events and an exhibition event, Denver will hold the National Veterans Wheelchair Games from July 4 to 9, 2010 at the Colorado Convention Center and other venues.

Volunteers are needed and the deadline to apply for athletes and volunteers is April 15, 2010. Links for more information can be found here.

Wheelchair basketball tournament results

The Illini men's wheelchair basketball team won the men's national championship this weekend.

The Illini were down by eight at halftime, but with the leadership of the tournament MVP, Steve Serio, the Illini came back to score 42 points in the second half.


U of Alabama women's Wheelchair basketball team won a women's tournament.

Alabama beat the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, 76-31, in the first game and beat Illinois, 67-46, in the second game.

They will play Sunday in the national tournament.
